Our Mission and Vision
Today’s modern reader is a globalized reader. Art is becoming a global phenomenon. People want to read stories from all over the world, from India to England to America. Longshot Island brings you stories for the modern reader. The global reader.
In each issue, we have writers from all corners of the planet. Subscribe to the magazine and take home fiction and nonfiction accounts of how people perceive the modern world. Get a collection of stories written from a diverse perspective, by people interpreting the changing times through an artist’s senses. The magazine also includes interviews, poetry, art and book reviews. It’s everything you need to connect to today’s modern storyteller.

How We Work
Stories are submitted through the Longshot Island website. The best stories we receive (our short list) appear online there.
The best stories from the website go in the quarterly magazine, which is the printed edition of Longshot Island.
Stories are submitted to awards platforms to give authors recognition for excellent writing.
Currently, we submit to the O. Henry Prize and the Pushcart Prize.
Our main office is in Eugene, Oregon. Our staff and authors live all over the world.
